Balance

Growing up in the lower mainland I’ve always loved the variety it brings: beaches in the summer, mountains in the winter, beautiful nature, and a wealth of activities. Being mixed race I was introduced to multiple cultures and cuisine by default. I was always encouraged to follow my passions, and never fear something new. As a result I played every sport I could find time for, sang in multiple choirs, and took every opportunity to see or try something new. I truly felt like a reflection of the community I was raised in. 

As I aged and my responsibilities grew I focused on those deemed more important. I left Metro Vancouver for Edmonton to play football and go to school and lost my other passions and my happiness along with it. At a low I had never felt before, I knew it was time to come home. I picked back up a sport I had pushed to the side, took a chance and went into a trade that I had never considered before, and found those passions once lost to me. Today I am a professional athlete in the sport I once dropped, gaining new experiences in a trade that was alien to me, coaching, traveling, and anything else I can find time for. I have rediscovered my balance.
