I’ve called Thailand home for roughly five years now. My love for this country runs deep. Few places on this earth have given me such a sense of freedom and gratitude. As an outdoor adventurer it’s provided the perfect playground over the years and has also taught me many life lessons.
One of those lessons occurred not long after I first arrived in Thailand. As I was leaving a nightclub I was robbed for my phone in the early hours of the morning and at the time decided it was a good idea to defend myself and keep my iPhone. I fought back and was stabbed eleven times, luckily evading fatal wounds. It was a painful year of rehab and had me contemplating giving up my life of travel. I never really drank heavily again after that night and I’m surprisingly grateful for the experience.
